RfC: Should deleted images in the results posts be replaced with the next rank?
[edit]If an image gets deleted because it's a copyright-violation (or a likely copyvio with VRT unanswered), should the image in the results post be replaced with the next-best image?
Currently, the result posts has (only) 3 spots for winning images.
- Option 1: Yes, it should be replaced.
- Option 2: No, it shouldn't be replaced.
- Option 3: Other, e.g. only sometimes (clarify).

- Option 1 – An image that uploaded as copyvio is not a legitimate entry and shouldn't take away the chances of winning and the ranks of other images. This is in part because it's unfair to the participants who upload own photos. There's only 3 winning images included in the winner posts so we really should use that space as much as possible and not waste it. It would also devalue the competition in that it would matter so little that we don't even replace an image of the just 3 (barely any) winning photos if it got deleted. Invalid / copyvios take away the ranks of valid photos. The actual top 3 places change when one of the unchecked ones gets deleted and this needs to be reflected in the winning photos posts.

Challenge errors

[edit]I am uploading and publishing my photo for this month's challenge and it keeps disappearing from the entries list.
I checked the list format and the upload process and everything looks normal.
The photo also appears on my uploads - contributions list normally but not on the actual challenge entries list.

- I can clearly see the image you uloaded with the filename "Herder Montenegro" and added to the challenge not quite 20 minutes before your post. Are you trying to upload another picture? Otherwise it might have been a disply issue on your side. Kritzolina (talk) 10:52, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
- I can see it now too, Kritzolina!
- I didn't try to upload anything else and I was worried because every other time I uploaded a photo for challenge submission it always showed immediately.
- Next time I will wait a bit after uploading, maybe an hour or two before worrying :)
